[Photo/Xinhua] HOHHOT -- Inner Mongolia Energy Group has started constructing a large-scale new energy storage power station in the Ulan Buh Desert, the eighth-largest in China, to better harness new energy power for grid connection.
Developed and financed by Tongliao Conch New Energy Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China's largest cement manufacturer the Conch Cement Group, the project – located in Naiman Banner, Tongliao – represents Inner Mongolia's largest single-site new-type storage facility.
For Inner Mongolia, which is positioning itself as a national energy and strategic resource base, the plant is expected to provide a cornerstone asset for the emerging new-type power system, while offering a “Tongliao solution” for other provinces seeking to combine large renewables bases with grid-forming storage.
Designed with a capacity of 605,000 kilowatts, the project is the largest single energy storage power station under construction in the country. The energy storage station can help send a stable supply of electricity from photovoltaic power facilities to the grid.
Inner Mongolia autonomous region has become the first region in China to surpass 100 million kilowattsin new energy installations, achieved through the completion of the 1-million-kilowatt wind
One of the state-approved large-scale new energy bases, the project in Ordos city of Inner Mongolia will include 8 gigawatts (GW) of solar power installations, 4 GW of wind power, 4 GW of coal-fired power
Recently, the signing ceremony for major energy new infrastructure projects in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region was held in Hohhot, and the independent new energy storage project
The project is located in Chayou Zhongqi Ulanqab City, Inner Mongolia, and is planned to build a 1000MW/6000MWh electrochemical shared energy storage power station, occupying an area
In 2024, Inner Mongolia added 7.08 GW of new-type energy storage – an increase of 240 percent year-on-year – becoming the first provincial-level region in China to surpass the 10 GW
